Dubai through my eyes

TRAVEL DIARIES . LONG HAUL |

Day2 ~ Only 12 hours left to see the most of one of the most impressive city in the world!

After spending an amazing first night in my 5* bed and having a lovely breakfast, I am so ready to start my round the clock sightseeing and discover all the gems of the city. I have got only 12 hours to go!

My way of transport for the day was one of these red hop-on hop-off bus!

Yes, the same ones we have here in London.

It is the easier, more flexible and cheapest way to get your sightseeing done if you have very little time ahead of you.

The bus stops to 35 of the most popular Dubai areas and attractions and it really made my tour of Dubai simple and stress-free!

my sightseeing strategy!

The Shangri-la hotel was located not too far from the Dubai Mall, so I used the free shuttle from the hotel to reach what would be my first starting point on the "red tour" The Dubai Mall.

From there I managed to hop-off-and-on all the stops on the Beach tour

  • Jumeirah Public Beach

  • Burj Al Arab

  • Souk Madinat

  • Mall of Emirates

Then, when getting to the Mall of Emirates, I hopped off and jumped on the Marina tour and after a long day, got back to the hotel doing the exact opposite journey (but without hopping off, obviously!)

I did not spend any money on taxi or other way of transport - only on the the hop-on hop-off bus ticket!

Jumeirah public beach and the Burj al Arab!

Jumeirah Public Beach is a must-see stop for visitors to Dubai with its soft white sand beaches and views of the famous Burj Al Arab Hotel which is the epitome of luxury and definitely one of the hotels on my bucket list

On that day, the wind was incredibly strong though! impossible to get a picture without my hair flying in all directions! I can tell you that by the end of the day my hair were so entangled that bushing my hair was almost mission impossible

Wild Wadi Water park

Located in front of the stunning Burj Al Arab, Wild Wadi offers 30 rides and attractions for all the family. Wild Wadi is themed around the tale of Juha, a known character from the Arabian folklore.

Souk Madinat

In my opinion, one of the best stop!

Souk Madinat was definitely one of the most beautiful stop of the tour!

You can find a couple of luxury 5 star resorts, several restaurants and cafes that are combined with many water canals and greenery.

All the shops part of the Madinat Jumeirah complex are in traditional Arabic style!

And if you are looking for Arab products, carpets, local clothing or typical souvenirs such as water pipes, lamps and sculptures, this the right place to go.

After a lovely stroll and enjoying a well deserved lunch in the Time of Arabia along the water canal... I am now hopping on the bus again in direction of the Marina walk to discover the modern side of the city.

The Marina walk and Atlantis Palm

Skyscrapers everywhere!

To finally end my round-the-clock tour with a view of the Atlantis The Palm, which is a majestic resort located on Palm island, an artificial islands taking the shape of a palm tree, hence its name

The Dubai Mall and The Burj Khalifa!

Finishing up the day where it started. I could not leave Dubai without seeing the Dubai Mall and The Burj Khalifa!

The Dubai Mall is the world’s largest destination for shopping, entertainment and leisure. It is featuring over 1,200 retail stores, two major department stores and hundreds of food and beverage outlets.

The mall covers more than 1 million square meters – the equivalent to 200 football pitches and it is conveniently located next to the world's tallest building, the Burj Khalifa.

I wanted to go up the Burj Khalifa so badly but the waiting queue was so long and obviously I missed my chances.

I was happy however being able to take a few photographs of what was in my opinion one of the most impressive construction I have seen.

end of a long day

The day was now coming to an end and I was feeling so blessed and grateful. There were so much more to see but really, how much more can you do in less than 12 hours!! I was extenuated.

I was proud that I managed to have such a broad overview of most of the amazing areas of Dubai in such a short time.

I was obviously lacking time to have a deeper experience of what the city can offer but I definitely got hooked up by the idea of coming back someday and take the time to do it all over again but at a slower pace, and to also experience the so famous nightlife and luxurious side of Dubai !

After ordering some room service and dining in the comfort of my luxurious room, I collapsed in bed, exhausted but happy.

Ready for the next chapter of my adventure .... SRI LANKA
